Our doctors and nurse practitioners prescribe 2 types of treatment: hot flashes treatment and vaginal dryness/pain treatment.
For hot flashes we recommend 2 separate medicines: a daily estrogen cream that you apply to your skin and a progesterone pill.
For vaginal dryness/pain we prescribe an estrogen vaginal cream
Please note - to use our service your periods must have stopped between 1-5 years ago. However, if you’re already on HRT, we may be able to help even though your periods stopped more than 5 years ago. If you’re still having your period - even if it’s sporadic - we can’t treat you.
Hot flashes: We prescribe 2 hormones to help treat hot flashes that are associated with menopause: topical estrogen cream and an oral progesterone pill.
Topical Estrogen Cream: We only use prescription medicine recommended by widely-recognized clinical guidelines. There are alternatives to the treatments we prescribe. It's your right to request a prescription for these alternatives from other -providers or get over-the-counter medicines that can be used instead.
Oral Progesterone Pill: We typically prescribe and ship an oral micronized progesterone pill (Prometrium) to help prevent growth of the inner lining of the uterus (endometrial hyperplasia) for postmenopausal women who are on estrogen hormone therapy.
Vaginal dryness/symptoms associated with menopause: We prescribe one hormone, estrogen, to help with common symptoms associated with menopause - vaginal dryness, vaginal burning, and pain with sex. The medical term for what causes these symptoms is vulvovaginal atrophy.
Vaginal Estrogen Cream: We prescribe and ship a compounded vaginal estradiol cream.
Like all prescription medicines, the HRT treatments we prescribe for hot flashes and vaginal dryness come with the potential for serious side effects. Before you start using the medicine we prescribe, it’s important that you read the detailed information we provide in your Treatment Plan.
